Craig Stein Bev, a multi-state distrib in Pacific Northwest, announced to employees on Friday, that it will merge with another multi-state distrib, The Odom Corp. Details about structure of deal unavailable at presstime, but it's being called a merger. Yet Odom is by far the larger entity, employing over 1750 people in 5 states, according to its website. Recall, Stein and Odom are already partners in craft-centric distrib NW Bevs based in Seattle. "As a natural evolution of this partnership," the cos say, "Odom and CSB are actively engaged in developing an arrangement to merge Odom's Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho business with CSB's Southern Idaho, Southwest Washington and Eastern Oregon beer and non-alcoholic businesses." Cos say "there are no anticipated changes that will impact employee's current roles and responsibilities, rather the merger will provide a larger organization with expanded opportunities for growth and development." Craig Stein sez: "We are proud to announce a merger between" Odom and CSB. The 2 cos "working together" at NW Bevs for yrs and that "venture has gone very well and it only makes sense to continue our relationship into the future." John Odom sez: "We have great respect" for CSB "and look forward to joining our combined network throughout Washington and Idaho and "expects this his new alignment of territories will provide additional resources for both Odom and CSB to continued growth in the beverage industry."The 2 distribs operate somewhat in the shadow of Pac NW giant Columbia Dist. In recent yrs, Columbia has plucked some key brands like Boston, Diageo and Pabst from Craig Stein Bev and Pabst from Odom and will likely go after more as this merger progresses. Deal also interesting because The Odom Corp's other notable recent deal was the purchase of AB's branch in HI, where it also sells Coca-Cola products. Deal expected to close in Q4 2022.
